The lilacs don’t last too long and I haven’t taken much for nature/flower shots in quite some time, so I figured I should grab a few.

I’m happy the ferns are finally coming up.  Hopefully Sumo leaves them alone.

For some reason I really enjoy photographing them…even the common plain jane ones.

This series of photos is the other half of a project I did last year for Concordia, the first being the images of food I posted earlier.  I wanted a series of the same scene in a near to far sequence.  I also happened to have a 5 slot frame black frame with white matting that I wanted to fill for the dining room.  I chose the white orchids on a black background to nicely match the frame, the yellow/red center provides nice contrast.

My little orchid collection winters at the ‘rents house.  They enjoy the large south facing window a little more than my frozen porch during the cold months.  I took a couple snappy snaps of them last month when I brought Sumo down to harass Ginger & Bella.  Also grabbed a shot of some frost on pine needles in the backyard.
