Thursday: 6am and I’m on the road. Roll into TF at noon. Eat good Korean food. Play with vinyl. Hit the road at 5pm. Sit in traffic. Sit through construction. Arrive in St. Louis at 11pm.

Earlquake (Earthquake).

Friday: Get to track, weather could be worse. Shoot a few frames. Dave decides to set up shop on Sat. Rain starts around 10am. Wind starts. Drive through the worst ghetto areas I’ve ever seen for the best ribs I’ve ever ate. And I’ve seen some nasty places and had some good ribs. Weather is worse. All day. Ugh. Eat at Lottawatta or whatever. MASSIVE portions.

Saturday: Get to track late, wait in massive unorganized line. Sprinkly crap on/off but the weather holds. Shoot a bunch. Laugh to myself that there is a bikini contest in 40 degree cloudy weather. At a drift/time attack event. Sneak on top of NOPI trailer to shoot (thanks Matt). Drink $5 Sapphire martinis. Hotel TF party. Sleep.

Sunday: Get to track late. I can see clearly now, the rain has gone. Upper ’70s all day, burnt to a crisp. Aaron Losey dominates. Forrest Wang is a sexy man behind the wheel. A BMW engine cries to be put out of its mercy. Shoot a bunch. I drool all over the Forged Performance G35. Shoot Chuck’s new S14. Hit the road to Chicago. Sleep in the posh Lee residence (thanks Dave) and high tail it outta there in the morning.

8/10/07 – Elkhart Lake, WI

One of the biggest things I look forward to shooting in the midwest every year is the annual Generac 500. This year was even more special with the addition of the Champ Car World Series to the schedule. The addition of CCWS forced the scheduling to run longer days. This subsequently forced ALMS to run into dusk on Saturday night, a new challenge for drivers at Road America and a welcome change for photographers.

Fans were treated to a great race and great weather – aside from a very random downburst of rain late in the race that caused a full course caution. The storm quickly passed near the end which resulted in a thrilling finish for the competitors. Result can be found here.
